Public Health Foundation Enterprises (PHFE), a
nonprofit agency known as ‘the nation’s premier catalyst for optimizing
population health,’ recently changed its name to Heluna Health. Heluna (a
Hawaiian word for "total count” or “population") Health better
reflects the organization’s work at the community-level implementing and
supporting evidence-based interventions across the population health spectrum.
Heluna Health partners with academic researchers, government agencies,
foundations and private sponsors to offer services such as program development,
contract/grants management, as well as fiscal and human resource
support. With their new identity, Heluna Health will continue
to grow its national portfolio. In addition to a new face, the company
recently introduced a new space.
Dr. Blayne Cutler, President
and CEO of Heluna Health, reached out to Environ Architecture’s Alan Burks to
discuss their needs for a new headquarters in the City of Industry. Dr. Cutler
explained, “I thought I had one specific question, but as soon as we got into
the details of the project, I realized that we needed a true partner throughout
the entire build-out to deliver what we imagined for our agency and our staff.”
Heluna was looking for a space that reflected the values
of their work— openness, collaboration, engagement and inspiring possibility.
The renovation consisted of 20,922 square feet, 24 private and shared offices,
five conference rooms, a large training room and amenities for six departments.
Environ’s Project Manager, Monique Blais-Algie, worked closely with Dr. Cutler
to create a design that rang true to the values Heluna set forth.
The reception welcomes
clients, staff and guests with the clean lines of the reception desk outfitted
with a carved wood panel on the front and a sparkling quartz countertop.
An inviting arrangement of modern classic furniture is positioned on an
inlay of carpet within a warm wood-look flooring. Lighting accentuates
original artwork by Mick Victor. This mixed-media series is entitled, “Dancer,”
and highlights the beauty of collaboration and teamwork.
After working with
Blais-Algie from concept, to design development through final construction, Dr.
Cutler stated that she could not be more pleased with the Environ team’s hard
work and the end result. The attention to every detail and clear design image
produced a space that is as functional as it is aesthetically pleasing for both
their clients and staff to enjoy.
